On the way up we stopped at Horseshoe Bend. This is the Colorado River bending into a horseshoe shape and you can see it from the top of this canyon. The girls were asleep when we got there, and the trail was farther than we had anticipated (we thought it would be maybe a 1/4 of a mile, but it was 3/4 of a mile), thus Jeff went by himself. He hiked/ran out there and got a few shots, and then came back. He said another time, we'll all have to go. :)
We got some sweet pictures of our children, too. I love this picture of my girls. I love how Claire is holding her sister. I love how Lydia is leaning into her sister and holding her. I love that they are showing genuine love for each other. My sweet Claire..
Happy girls together.
I really liked that they wanted their picture with me, and then actually smiled in it. :)
Our little family. To prove that Jeff was really there and not just behind the camera.
Sweet sisters.
The day after the funeral we were able to get together with some of Jeff's family for a BBQ. The girls and their second cousin, Joseph, were eating popsicles and started posing for pictures. Eva, Joseph's little sister, was in a few pictures, but missed ours. These 3 had so much fun eating the popsicles.
On our way home, we stopped at Cove Fort. Cove Fort is an historic place for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in southern Utah where Ira Hinckley built a fort to help travelers at the request of President Brigham Young back in 1867. The fort was a very neat place to see, and to learn a little more about our Church's pioneer heritage. It made for a nice rest stop, but put us behind a little. Oh well, the girls had fun. :)
Here are the girls sitting on the edge of a covered wagon. Claire wasn't so thrilled about that. The block says, "Cove Creek Ranch Fort Erected 1867."
This is part of a panorama Jeff has yet to put together of the Fort. Off to the right you can see the girls and I talking to one of the missionaries there.
We did go to BYU campus, but didn't get any pictures. The girls had fun seeing where we went to school, and places that we had lived. They were so good on this trip. It was short, but we felt so blessed to have been able to go.
