Lydia says a German Word
This morning we cooked French Toast for breakfast. We used our handy-dandy Presto Griddle to cook the French Toast to perfection. While Michelle was holding Lydia, standing next to the griddle, Lydia leaned over and said, "heiss." That means hot in English. I've been using that word whenever we have the griddle/oven/stove on. She has said something resembling "heiss" before, but this morning it was very distinct and clear. More importantly, she correctly associated the feeling of warmth with a word she had heard previously. Awesome. Below is the obligatory picture with the post. It's our griddle.

I know you think that your first word Jeff was Scholade, but really it was your first compound word. Your very first word was heiss! Our oven in the kitchen in Erlangen was not in a cabinet, but sitting next to the entry door to the kitchen. It was not very well insulated and got hot quickly wheneverit was turned on, and when you were just toddling, and using objects to steady yourself, we continually held our hand near the oven and pulled it away saying "Oh, HEISS!"
