Jeff and Kimia's Wedding

Jeff and Kimia are married. Yay!! They got married February 22, 2008 in the Oakland California temple. It was a rainy day, but a wonderful day. It cleared up a little bit right after they came out of the temple, so we were able to get some good pictures, and then it started to rain again. Here are some pictures from throughout the day.

Here is the happy couple soon after coming out of the temple. As you can tell, the sun is shining a little here!!

Here is the only picture that we took of Jeff and Kimia with my parents.

With the family. We took one with just the parents and siblings, and then added in Jeff and Lydia; however, since Jeff took this picture, we weren't able to get one of all of us. I think my parents have one someone took for them, so I'll have to get it from them.

The beautiful bride. She was so radiant that day!!

The grinning groom. He was so sweet the whole day. It was so fun to see the two of them together and so happy!

Lydia was pretty good throughout the whole day. Here she is practicing her new profession, dentistry.

Lydia was sooooo tired the whole week it seemed. Her routine had been totally thrown off and she wasn't taking naps. At the luncheon, it didn't take long for her to fall asleep in my lap. Jeff took her from me eventually so that I could eat, and then we put her on the floor so that he could eat! We were grateful that she took a nap that day (even though it wasn't as long as we would have liked it to be), since we knew it was going to be a long day.

This is a picture from the knife dance. In Persian culture, there is a tradition in how the bride and groom to get the knife to cut the cake. There are some girls (in this case the two bridesmaids, Kimia's friend Tamara, and my sister Natalie) who dance with the knife, and the groom has to pay them to get the knife. Tamara started out with the knife and danced with it and Jeff had to pay her. She then passed the knife on to Natalie, who kept dancing and getting money from Jeff. In this picture, look at Jeff's mouth. As a joke, he pulled out his credit card and started to hand it to Natalie. To play along with it Natalie tried her best to get it from him. He then placed the card in his mouth! In the end, she just ended up with cash, and gave Jeff and Kimia the knife so that they could cut the cake!

Cutting the cake. They were so funny. When they fed it to each other, they used a fork!! I guess that is a better way of doing it than smashing it into each other's face!

Their cake was good!! We all really enjoyed it! As you can tell from below, Lydia enjoyed it as well. The thing I love about this picture is that the blurry part on the left is where she is trying to hand me her fork with some cake on it.

Enjoying just being together. Jeff and Kimia were so excited to be married because it meant that they were actually going to be living in the same state! No more long distant, late night phone calls!

At the reception there was a lot of dancing. While we were setting up the day before and they were testing the music, Lydia was having a lot of fun dancing. Then at the reception, it seemed like Lydia didn't want to dance at all. I was a little disappointed because I wanted to see her go for it. Well, I guess we just had to wait, because after the cake, Lydia was all into it!!! Below is her dancing. She would run circles around us and LOVED it!! I wished that we had our video camera to get some of it. She had such a blast.

Leaving for the honeymoon. There was this fun bubble machine that they had that someone walked along next to the path that Jeff and Kimia were on with the machine blowing bubbles. It was fun. My favorite part about Jeff and Kimia leaving was when Jeff couldn't figure out how to turn on the lights in their rental car. My husband Jeff had to go and show him how to do it!

Jeff and Kimia are up in Washington right now for their open house up there. They are so cute and it is fun to hear how their first few weeks of marriage have gone. I wish we lived closer so that we could see them more often, but I hoped that you enjoyed seeing a little bit of their wedding!

Sidenote: (updated at 9:25am on March 8th) So, the other day Jeff got an e-mail from his cousin regarding a post on a photosite that he had found and was reading. While looking at the pictures from this post he thought that the guy looked pretty familiar, and then thought, "That guy looks like Michelle." Low and behold, the guy who had done the posting was the photographer from Jeff and Kimia's wedding, and the photos were of Jeff and Kimia.
