Poor Girls

Well, soon after all of our family left, Lydia got sick. She had a fever, and just by looking at her you could tell she didn't feel well. You would think that being sick she would sleep in, but no, our little girl just got up early and decided that one of us had to be up with her and her room would not suffice. Thus, Jeff got up with her most mornings, and one morning, Lydia fell asleep on the lovesac, however, she looked like this: Poor girl was so tired she fell asleep standing up. Fortunately she did get better (along with Jeff who got sick the day after Lydia did); however, even with all of our diligent efforts to keep Lydia away from Claire, she got Claire sick with a fever. This made for an unfortunate trip to the ER. Because Claire was so young, and she had a fever, we had to take her in to be seen right away, and since pediatricians offices aren't 24 hours, we went to the ER.

My wait wasn't too bad considering the number of people there, but I think that was because of her age. Once they saw us we had to have blood tests, urine tests, RSV tests, a spinal tap, another blood test, and then the conclusion that she just had an upper respiratory infection and told to see our pediatrician in 24 hours. We were grateful that it wasn't anything worse and that she didn't have to be admitted to the hospital (If any of the tests had come back positive we would have been admitted). It just made for a really long night as I got there at 10:15pm, and left at 4:45am. We were also glad that I didn't get sick and was able to have the strength to take care of the rest of my family. I was a little paranoid the next few days, and grateful to have a doctor's appointment to reassure me it was all okay. I was also glad that the hospital never called to say come in because that would have meant she had a bacterial infection and Claire would have been admitted.

We are all doing better, (everything happened about two and a half weeks ago), and grateful for our health!!
