Most of their stunts used 4 planes.
These next 3 pictures show 2 planes flying towards each other, and then turning to the side so that they don't hit. It always made me flinch they look so close!
At the end, they had all 6 fly together. It is amazing to me how close together they fly!! They have got to practice a lot!

I once saw a show on Discovery or some such channel that was all about the T-Birds and it explained how the two different "teams" of pilots use different sounding voices to distinguish themselves over the radio when they're flying. They have to because their precision has to be dead-on and any mistaken voice or following the wrong lead-pilot could kill them. It was really cool and if you can do some digging and find it, it's a really neat show to watch. I always enjoy seeing them fly - of course, my personal favorite time seeing them was at my own graduation ;)
